For Christmas last year I had received a cocktail calendar for 2019. Each month comes with a different cocktail recipe. I thought this would be a great monthly challenge for me to broaden my horizons with cocktails and have a few people join my cocktail adventures. So once a month I will make the months cocktail and share if I nailed it or failed it. Sorry this is a delayed post like I mentioned in my last post I did have some technical difficulties.
Enjoy…..
BLACK MANHATTAN

2oz rye whiskey
1oz Averna
2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters
Cherry garnish
Method
Add bitters, whiskey, Averna and ice into cocktail shaker. Stir for about 30 seconds. Strain contents into rocks glass over ice or serve up in martini glass. Add cherry.
WHEN I TRIED IT….
Well for starters I had to convert this drink from ounces. Evidently I had nothing to measure ounces in my house. So after converting this and making sure I did intact have all of the ingredients I gave it a go. Wasn’t to hard to make in fact it pretty simple. I did feel like I was 18 again making a drink for my friends with pretty much 99% alcohol in it. Now drinking it, well. It was bloody strong. I knew it would be strong by looking at the ingredients but it still caught me by surprise. It wasn’t my favourite drink I felt like it needed something to dilute it a bit, but I didn’t want to commit blasphemy for all of the people that enjoy Black Manhattans. So I didn’t enjoy this I actually didn’t finish it buut I gave it a go.
IM OUT!!
