Is it just me but when you have a recipe with what feels like a million ingredients it makes the whole process seem a lot more complicated. Don’t get me wrong sometimes the more ingredients the better when it comes to baking/cooking food to make sure it doesn’t go to shit. But sometimes when you see a recipe with requires so many ingredients it can put you off. I mean really when I have make things in the past from scratch and had to buy heaps of ingredients to make it I end up with a pantry full of spices/ products that literally have 1/2 teaspoon taken out of them and then have never been used again. I have so many spices (probably out of date) where I used it once and never used it again.
So with this I was on a little search for under 5 ingredients recipes so somedays when Im feeling lazy I can quickly whip this food up with no issues and it would still taste great. In an online Kmart shop for a few bits and pieces I came across a 4 ingredient recipes cookbook (yesss) which I immediately bought. I mean come on 4 ingredients and it was and Australian book BONUS! Having an Australian cookbook is always a bonus because I know the ingredients will be at the supermarket (some ingredients are not available here or they just have a different name) and also I don’t have to convert the measurements – Which is always such a fun time. Sure this cookbook is technically for kids but who cares, at least I know I can’t fuck this shit up.

A lot of the recipes I tried out within a week and I have to say each one everyone ate in the house and we actually had some space for leftovers to put in the fridge after. Each recipes was super easy and I didn’t have any major fuck ups. Some of which the spawn helped make- by help I mean she stood there with an apron on and occasionally stirred, most of the time she asked me if she could lick the bowl then would run off to play with her toys. If I relied on her cooking my dinner I would more than likely have a burnt down house. In this book it has recipes for snacks to dinners which are so good.
I would like to find another recipe book preferably for adults and not set up for kids. Mostly because other adults are making fun of me following a children’s recipe book (assholes!). Anyway just to show how easy these recipes are check out below one of the recipes I used for Caramel Cookies. These were soo tasty all three of us slammed the entire batch down in one day thats how tasty they were. They satisfied our sweet craving and because we happened to have all of the ingredients at home we didn’t have to leave the house at all.
CARAMEL COOKIES
MAKES 20
- 1/2 cup butter at room temperature
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons golden syrup
- 1 cup self raising flour
Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. In a bowl cream the butter and the sugar. Add the syrup and stir until light and fluffy. Mix in the flour until the texture is such that you are able to roll it into tablespoon-sized balls. Place on baking tray lined with baking paper, 2cm apart and press each gently with a fork. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden. Cool completely before eating.
Give these a go they are seriously a great treat. So are the rest of the recipes, I didn’t come across any recipes that I didn’t like the taste of.
IM OUT!!!
