Do you like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain….. who doesn’t sing that sing in their head whenever they hear Pina Coladas or see it on the menu. Well here we are with another lazy cocktail for the people who love a good cocktail but don’t want to have to go out and buy millions of ingredients just for one drink.

Now its no secret I love my wine and I love my cocktails so this drink is pretty much if wine and a cocktail got together and had a baby. I know people usually have mimosas with brunch but honestly if Ive ever been to brunch, I go straight for the coffee! I need my caffeine fix. Ive had mimosas in the afternoon when its usually a nice sunny day when Im sitting outside or the one occasion at LAX at 7pm because I had a mental blank and couldn’t think of what to order (my flight was at 11pm way not have a few cocktails with randoms to pass the time).

So anyway getting back on topic, the weather has been remarkably pleasant in Melbourne this last week. The hottest day was around 30 Degrees (celsius ) and lowest around 19- so fairly pleasant .Id prefer this than the horrible disgusting, sweaty weather or freezing cold that its an effort to get out of bed or the hot shower. Err rambling again!!! Anyways with this nice weather its nice to sit outside and enjoy a nice sweet fruity cocktail – so why not go with something simple.

With this drink you can put it in a champagne glass or wine glass or even a plastic cup if you want to. I like putting it in a wine glass (I have big wine glasses to fit more in). This is a nice sunny weekend drink to enjoy outside,  or really if you want to feel like summer in a glass on a miserable day give it a go……

1 Shot Rum

1/2 cup Prosecco or white wine really

1/2 Cup Pineapple juice

These measurements are based on my wine glass  that I used you can make it stronger or weaker, its your choice. Hope you enjoy it.

After one of the longest sleeps I have had in the last two years, I felt like a new woman. I got up hit the gym, showered and glammed up for the day. Well what was left of the day.

We had planned to go to Fremont Street that night. We’ve never been there at night, we would always go during the day and you can’t really see show on the roof. So we took our time getting ready and had a few pre gamer drinks. I seriously felt like I had so much energy I was ready to go and I bandaid-ed up my feet to an insane level to wear my wedges. Yes I know its dumb but Im a short female and I wanted to look normal height and look good.

So we caught a cab to Fremont Street, it was dark by then. Walking Fremont Street at night was a whole different experience, lights everywhere and loads of people. I loved it. I’m not usually a fan of big crowds but this I could live with because I was so distracted by the roof display I couldn’t care less about all the people. We strolled through some of the casinos and even had a bit of a gamble. It wasn’t my night I WON NOTHING! Of course I was feeling mischievous and I bought a 30th Birthday plastic necklace at a pop up stand (come on I had to advertise my birthday), I’m surprised Im still married with how cheeky I was wearing that necklace also I kept asking to borrow my hubs cigarette to pose for photos…..because I couldn’t be serious for one photo that night. I think also I didn’t want to take a serious photo because I had a reaction on my lips causing them to dry out and look like I had a disease. But it didnt hold me back.

We headed back the strip after our adventure in Old Vegas, but we were in no way shape or form ready to go back to our hotel. What we did was get dropped off at NEW YORK NEW YORK, that way we could walk back going through each hotel and stop at each bar. We started at Coyote Ugly in New York New York. This is the second time Ive been here and I forgot you have to pay to get into this bar! PAY! Yes i sound like a cheap fuck but it was just weird to me. We stayed for one drink to, the atmosphere wasn’t really that enjoyable. You’d think going to a bar where chicks dance on the bar and theres a dance floor for patrons it be awesome. Nope, everyone was boring that night and my hubs and I were the only ones busting out moves on the dance floor while everyone was sticking their noses up at us. Screw that we went elsewhere.

We went across to the MGM, we walked around there and had a few drinks. Side note I do like the MGM it looks like a really good place to stay. Maybe another future trip, hehe. We walked around from place to place trying to find somewhere to sit for a while and drink rather than have one and leave and walking around with traveller drinks.

Once we had made it to the Planet Hollywood, we went for a stop at TWIN PEAKS (if you don’t know what this place is, its like Hooters but its got a lumberjack theme) where we sat at the bar with a few drinks and for some chicken wings – I needed food. I like these places, yeah the girls are in skimpy outfits but I find they are the nicest pretty girls Ive ever met – even if they are just trying to get tips.  After we stuffed our faces and had a few cocktails, we decided to walk around the Miracle Mile and have a few drinks while we had a look around. While walking we noticed that it was strangely quiet. A lot of stores were closed and it was pretty much deserted. Of course in my mischievous state I was having a riot dancing around. But I was getting a bit creeped out to why everything was closed it wasn’t until I looked at my phone I realised it was 3am! YES 3AM! I can’t remember the last time is was up that early (well that wasn’t because of a crying child).

Once we realised that it was early hours of the fucking morning, we were out as if were were 18 years old able to party til 7am. We decided to start heading back to the hotel. When we hit the Flamingo we made a stop to go the the bathrooms, normal people would have gone to the bathroom and continued heading home. We didn’t. We explored the hotel and ended up at Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville. They had some Beer Pong tables that you could use, you just had to go to the bar and ask about it. Of course we had to play it- I mean why the hell not! We notice two guys in suits were playing on another table and asked them if the wanted to join us once they finished their game. We didn’t realised we had challenged two Irish businessman to a game of Beer Pong!

Well it was a pretty close match we were leading by one cup, but then they just got our cups one after the other. They also figured out I bounced when my turn. Needless to say they smashed us they had 2 cups left at the end of the game. After the match we all sat down at the 5Oclock Somewhere bar with our Irish competitors and had a few drinks together. It was good chatting with people from another country and I actually learnt a few new things about Ireland, I really don’t know much to be honest. While enjoying our drinks they Irishmen mentioned they needed to head back to their hotel as they had to get ready for a flight in a few hours thats when we decided we really needed to get back and finally go to sleep otherwise we will be wrecked for a few days.  So we stumbled back.

Well we finally made it back to the room and I took a look at the time and it was 6:30am!! I thought it was an achievement that I was able to last that long without needing a nap. I haven’t gotten home from a night out at 6:30am since I was 18 years old. Pretty good effort I thought. But around 8:30am-9am I started to feel shit I woke up after barely any sleep with my stomach churning err it was about an hour in the foetal position before I eventually fell asleep again. We were in bed the whole day, it was a right off but we needed to recover.

Well Ill leave it here for now stay tuned for Part 3 of MY VEGAS ADVENTURE for the last few days in Vegas. Enjoy some pics of me channeling my inner white trash…..

Well I did it, I had celebrated my 30th birthday in Las Vegas. The whole trip was a memorable experience and it will stay with me for many years. I not going to lie it was  extremely hard leaving the baby (well she’s not a baby anymore) I seriously thought I was fine when my parents came up and collected her. It wasn’t until we were taking off from Melbourne airport that it clicked I was actually leaving her and I cried. Yes sir I cried while taking off. Lucky people didn’t think twice about it, other passengers probably thought I was a nervous flyer by looking at me losing it.

Our trip started off with good luck, the flight wasn’t filled and there was heaps of empty chairs, and by heaps I mean whole isles. So once we had taken off and the seatbelt sign was off we were able to move to the spare seats and stretch out. We were on the 3 seater isle and had no one between us so we could stretch out a bit. Not as much as some other people but it was a lot more room. Unfortunately we both didn’t sleep the whole flight just because neither of us felt comfortable sleeping sitting up (divas).

After our long ass flight to LA we started our road trip to Vegas. I’m not going to repeat my road trip – head to my ROAD TRIP blog to check that out. We stayed at TREASURE ISLAND hotel and casino for our trip, we wanted to stay at a different area of the strip since we’ve stayed at NEW YORK NEW YORK and PLANET HOLLYWOOD on our previous trips.

So when we were checking we were determined to try the $20 sandwich trick everyone had told us to try in order to get a room upgrade (when checking in you put a $20 bill between your ID and credit card and ask the check in staff if there is any possibility for a room upgrade). I was so nervous about trying this but you know what, IT WORKED!!!!! The staff member gave us a room on the second highest floor WITH a strip view. No extra charge – well $20 that it. As we were being handed our keys the check in staff asked us if we were celebrating anything while in Vegas, when we told him we were celebrating my birthday he then told us he was sending up a complimentary bottle of champagne up to our room. Talk about amazing customer service!

Seriously try the room upgrade guys!

When we got up to our room I was blown away. The view was amazing and it was so roomy compared to the small rooms we had in the past. I know some people might look at our room and think MEH, but to me this room was fantastic! Sure Treasure Island is a bit older than some of the other hotels on the strip, but so what I was happy with our choice. Anyway you’d think that considering we have had a long ass flight followed by a long drive that we would just want to chill in our hotel room and call it a night. NO FUCKING WAY ! We showered and cleaned ourselves up and headed out to enjoy some adventures on the strip. We of course went to FAT TUESDAY for a drink to walk around with. In the times we have been to Vegas I have never bought a drink from there so this was definitely a must for the trip. I didn’t get one of this big ass yard glasses because I didn’t want to get sick of the drink and have to walk around with a big cup – so I went for the disposable cup that made me look like a just bought a frozen drink from Starbucks or 7Eleven.

We did think we were out that late while walking the strip the first night. We just wanted to suss out a few places we researched so we knew where they were when it came time to going to them later on in the week. We ate dinner at IN N OUT BURGER, yes I finally got try try this and the burger was definitely worth the hype! The fries on the other hand I wasn’t really a fan of, but the burger OH it was good. It wasn’t until I actually looked at the time I realised it was 12am! I honestly thought it was 9pm but fuck you really have no concept of time. So in our tipsy state (yeah we threw back a few drinks) we stumbled back to our room and called it a night. The next morning I got up around 9ish and went for a workout at the hotel gym. Yes Im on holidays but I need something from my routine to keep me in a good mood otherwise Im a fowl bitch. When I got back I got showered and glamed up and we headed to the outlet mall.

We went to the North Outlet Mall, we’ve been to both but I found this one better plus its outdoors. I honestly had to high hopes to buy heaps here, Id actually made a bit of a mental list on exactly what I wanted to buy but only was a bit let down because I didn’t really find anything I wanted. I think every other time Ive been I haven’t really had anything in mind that I wanted to buy and just bought whatever. I did make a stop at the Disney Store and made a few purchases for the little lady at home and I bought some perfume and a few cosmetics samples.

Oh this was the highlight of our trip to the mall. While the husband was buying some shoe cleaner for his brand new Nikes I was just standing there staring at people walking by (most likely mentally making moment about them – we all do it when were bored). A girl with her friends was walking and playing with her phone oblivious to anything around her, walks into a pole making the loudest bang. It got everyones attention. She was mortified, the strangest thing was she checked her phone was ok first before making sure her face wasn’t bruised. So while everyone else was looking in shock I was on the ground pissing myself laughing at her – only because it is a pet hate of mine when people are constantly on their phones while walking. You can text quickly but there is not need to Facebook or something like that while you are walking.

We headed back after about and hour and a half at the mall and went straight to the Fashion Show Mall across the street to Treasure Island. I went a bit mad at Sephora and Forever 21 (they had heaps of my style tops). After my shopping trip I made a detour to CVS on the way back to our room to get some PRE Game booze and some band aids. I thought we could have a few drinks before we head out that night and i needed some bandaids because being such a little diva I wanted to wear some wedges the first night and of course not a good idea doing as much walking as I did in wedges. Walking in dressy flats the following day didn’t help my situation either.

We were all done up for the night and ready for an evening out on the town. We went out to El-Segundo for dinner (after a stop at FAT TUESDAY of course). I was hanging for this all day, I love my Mexican food- this did not disappoint. After dinner we both felt so fucking stuffed we were contemplating going back to the room to die, but like champs we walked it off. We of course made some stops at some bars on our trails. We ended the night at the Chandelier Bar in the Cosmopolitan. A place I wanted to go just because everyone kept raving on about it. We had one drink there, one. It was a nice place to go but I honestly think the tiredness caught up with us and we just needed to go to bed.

We were walking through the Cosmopolitan to get back on the strip when my husband suggested we catch a cab back. To us it felt lazy because we like to walk everywhere when on holidays. But that particular night, Ive never wanted to get in a cab more! My feet were wrecked from my shoes (yes I didn’t learn my lesson and wore those wedges again) and I was trying to keep a brave face but I think it said it all when he suggested and I was so quick to answer yes. We got back to our room and just collapsed on the bed. Us calling it a night was definitely a good idea because it gave us a big rest and we were feeling amazing the next day. Ready for some shenanigans……

I’ll leave it here for now stay tuned for PART 2 of my Vegas Adventure. If you want to hear more about some of the bars I mentioned take a look at my DRINKING VEGAS TOURIST BLOG.

Summer Lovin Cocktail

About five years ago I tried to make up a cocktail which included watermelon, it didn’t go too well. I mixed up this concoction that was so chunky and it just looked like I had thrown up into the blender. Needless to say it put me off for a few years to try again. But I figured since I have a new blender, I may try again.

I find watermelon goes well with pineapple (but really a lot can go with pineapple it’s so tasty) I wanted to make a really fruity cocktail that’s really really easy and that gave you a bit of a summer feeling.

1 cup watermelon

1/2 cup frozen raspberries

1 cup pineapple

2 shots coconut rum

1 cup Moscato

Blend up the fruit and rum until nice and smooth, pour in a glass and fill up the remainder of the glass with the Prosecco. Decorate as you please, I used an umbrella- who doesn’t love an umbrella in their cocktail.

Please note: it does tend to froth up when you blend it up

Lazy Drunken Cherry

I realised I hadn’t really made many cocktails lately, just bloody green smoothies. Seriously what the fucks wrong with me….Oh yeah Ive been too busy begin stupid adult and being responsible. Its appalling I know. So anyway I decided to mix it up with a cherry cocktail. I wanted to make a super easy low ingredients cocktail that anyone could make up at home.

1 Cup Pitted Cherries (best to use frozen)

2 Cups Lemonade

1/2 Cup Vodka

Blend the vodka and cherries until smooth, strain the liquid to get rid of the chunks before putting mixture in glass of lemonade. I used a tea strainer. Garnish drink however you please (or don’t, who we trying to impress)

This beauty was actually created on my birthday, I was hanging for a cocktail but I didn’t want to have to look up recipes and then have to go out to collect all of the ingredients so I basically worked with what I had. I am pretty proud of this drink as a Pina Colada is one of my all time favourite cocktails. This way I could enjoy it with only three ingredients and it was super quick to make.

Serves 1

1 cup coconut water

1 cup frozen pineapple

50ml or 70ml coconut rum (depending how strong you want it)

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Put in fun cup (or coffee cup if you want) and enjoy
