Located in the heart of the CBD, within Melbourne Central lives B. Lucky & Sons. Walking inside the bar the first thing I noticed was that it first appeared to be a pawn shop. But as I ventured further inside I was greeted by the bright lights of the arcade games and the bar staff creating cocktails.
I do like playing arcade games and places like this I don’t come across often. Usually I find places that have arcade game and happen to have a bar as well, but it’s usually targeted at families. This place while small has a lot to offer. With games on one side and a bar with inside and outside seating it’s just perfect for people who want to kick back and have a little fun one afternoon. Of course I started of my little adventure playing some of the games with a glass of wine, I didn’t want to have a cocktail while playing the game since I won’t give it the attention as Id be too into the games. As well as the standard classic cocktails they also have bubble cups cocktails and can cocktails which I actually enjoyed they were so tasty you wouldn’t know they had any alcohol in them. With these cocktails they do put a lot of effort into the appearance swell as the taste – one of the bubble cups came with a little panda toy on the top which was cute.
We enjoyed the cocktails outside. The outside area is pretty well shaded so if your like me and burn really easy your safe here. This is a different place to go if you just want to have a few drinks and you enjoy arcade games. By the way with the games you get your winning tickets on a card so then you can get a price from your tickets before you leave – BONUS! Seriously check it out its right in Melbourne Central so you can go shopping before or after your visit and its right near a train station and trams stops so there is loads of public transport near you. Below is the link to the Melbourne location of B.Lucky and Sons so you can take a look yourself.
It is a random thing that I discovered Escape Rooms from an episode of BIG BANG THEORY. One day I was watching an episode (I’m talking a few years ago now) and they had al tried out an Escape room and had finished it within a few minutes. I was very intrigued I had to see if this actually existed, and also had to see if there was any in Melbourne. For anyone who doesn’t actually know what an Escape Room is, its basically your put in a room with a time limit and you have to find clues in order to get yourself out. All Escape Rooms have different themes from a zombie apocalypse to prison break to murder mystery – the themes are limitless.
This would be the forth Escape Room I’ve done. Yep I love these. I enjoy looking for clues. If you are looking for any answers to any specific Escape Rooms sorry guys I won’t be sharing any secrets you’ll have to go through them yourself without any cheats. So Ive done a Prison Break Room – which was my first one. This one was attached to STRIKE BOWLING which was really good because they had bowling and a bar for afterwards. But anyways this room Was defiantly able to show me when going in an Escape Room really what to look for when looking for clues. The Second one I did was the Wonderland Room at TRAPT. This is also place I went to for my more recent adventure. The Wonderland Room was of course and Alice in wonderland themed room. I did love this room because you had to get though three rooms in order to finally get out of the room. The final Escape Room I’ve done was in my hometown with my oldest friends at the Old Geelong Gaol, where it was a bank heist themed escape room.
Like I mentioned I went to TRAPT – Escape Room & Bar. I do love this place because when you walk in down the stairs from the busy Melbourne CBD street, it feels like you’ve come into a whole new world. An underground Speakeasy. It takes you back in time, looking around you feel like you are in a secret underground bar. The cocktails they have reflect off of all of the rooms, which I love. For example get a Queen of Hearts cocktail for the Wonderland Room. So anyway we thought we would try the absolute hardest room that TRAPT had to offer (we were feeling cocky as fuck). We did the Espionage Room. So the story/ background for the room is you are US Counter-Intelligence Agents, that have been assigned to basically stop a bomb going off. Its set around the Cold War.
This room consisted of 3 small rooms, what you had to do was solve clues so you were able to get through these rooms in order to escape. I am not lying when I say this was one of the hardest rooms that I have ever done! I’m not going to get into much detail because I don’t want to give too much away about the room itself and potentially spoil the experience for anyone who want to try it. But we went into the room (sorry guys no cameras inside so no photos of the room itself) and straight away started looking for clues in order to get things going. This I was pretty proud of only because the very first time we tried an escape room we stood there for about 10 minutes scratching our heads and wasting time. So we got through the clues, we did have a moment were we did get stuck and had to ask for a clue help (you can do that – they don’t tell you the clue but they give you hints) and it helped us get into the second room.
Once we got into the second room everything went to absolute shit. We had no idea what to do and were to go to find clues. It didn’t help that when we were rushing around looking for the clues, I feel like we wasted our time because we were down to our final minutes and no matter how hard we tried we just weren’t getting it. We were just getting to slow looking for the clues, I personally think more clues were in the front room that could have helped us in the second but Ill never know unless I try the room again. After the alarm went off we were let out of the room by a staff member and they gave us a little look into the next room to see what we would have missed out of.
Needless to say this is definitely a room I would try with a group of about 4 plus people rather than 2. Only because you are on a time limit and the time does fly when you are in there, so it means that the more people you have in your party the quicker they find the clues and the quicker you can get the ball rolling in order to get out and complete the room.
So we didn’t manage to escape the Espionage Room (Well they didn’t lock us in forever because were too dumb to find our way out) and got to enjoy some a few glasses of wine afterwards to shake off our fail. Seriously try an escape room. Its a different activity and is great to try out with your group of friends. If you want to try out TRAPT below is the website info – seriously they are the best place to try out.
It’s that time of year again. When the malls get insanely busy and everyone becomes an A HOLE. Because I’m usually the Merry person that’s always polite at Christmas , I figured why not stoop to their level and be a bit of an asshole myself. So I created a few games for adults to enjoy the insanity that Christmas brings and frankly Christmas is all about spending time with the ones you love, why not do these games with all of them. Wine is always encouraged to be consumed when participating with these games’

It’s Saturday night the toddler is at her aunts house. We’re free!!! Soooo what to do? Go out and party? Go to a movie? Naaa lets just stay home with our cheap wine and have our own game night. That’s right guys a game night. I know I sound like an old fart right now but occasionally a game night his pretty good, as long as you have the right games, food and of course drinks.
So our game night began with a selection of chicken wings and dipping sauce for dinner with a lot of chips and dip. As you can tell I love eating like a cave woman chicken wings, ribs basically any meat with good dippy sauce you sold me….I’m every vegans nightmare. So after we ate and cleaned up (wing obviously are wicked messy) we hit the PlayStation. No we didn’t need out on CALL OF DUTY or whatever killing game is in. We played the HASBRO FAMILY FUN PACK, which consists of a fair few classic board games like monopoly. We didn’t want to spend the whole night playing so we played Trivial Pursuit (which is my favourite). I know you can play the board game but playing it on the PS4 is pretty fun, especially when your winning and your character is dancing around without your control don’t you be a bad winner without having to be an obvious bad winner.
We then moved onto the 90s TRIVIA BOX. I fount this one day at Kmart white I was waiting in line at the checkout. One of my no-regrets checkout purchases. Basically it’s just you ask questions regarding the 90s. There’s more to it obviously, but I’m not here to explain in depth the rules of the game (if your hanging to know tell me or just buy the game) but anyway being a 90s kid I thought FUCK YES I will ace this shit. Well I remembered some things but obviously I need to brush up on my 90s history…..because I lost horribly.
Our final game was CARDS AGAINST HUMANITY. I got his game as a Christmas gift about 2 years ago. I originally found out about it from a friend who played it one drunken night with her roommates, she said it was a great game- perfect for someone with a bit of a sick sense of humour like myself. This game was great! I wish I could play this more….but the roommates I live with aren’t always up for it. Ones a two year old who can’t sit still, the others is a four legged creature who likes licking her butt and the other is a 31 year old who wants to just watch a movie or grab my boobs. So when I have people who actually want to play it’s a good time for me. The whole time I was in hysterics at the stupid combinations I had for my cards.
The final game was…….who can stay awake the longest. This involves a lot of cheap wine and sitting in bed watching NETFLIX until you fall asleep, the first one asleep loses..It was a draw for who lost.
So as much as it is great to let lose when you have a child free night, sometimes it’s even better just to chill out at home with your cheap booze, plenty of food and no lines to the bathroom.
If anyone has any questions about any of the games I’ve mentioned don’t hesitate to ask. Until then I have an episode of Man Vs Food that requires my full attention (I’ve seen this series so many times but I love my food porn).
